The Rising Tide Of Diamond Wedding Bands

9:43 am diamonds, jewelry

j.jpgI remember when I was a kid and all the women wore beautiful diamond engagement rings and standard gold wedding bands maybe with a design on them. All the guys wore just plain gold wedding bands usually with the date of his wedding inscribed on the inside of it. It never even occurred to me that you could put diamonds in the gold bands and, obviously, it didn’t occur to anyone else either as diamond wedding bands used to be almost impossible to find.

Fast forward to my adult years and now I see diamond wedding bands all over the place. Nearly every wedding I have been in as an adult has seen the bride with a beautiful diamond engagement ring and then, as part of a matching set, a beautiful diamond wedding band. I am not sure if this is something new to the rest of the world but it certainly was something new to me. I really liked the look of diamonds set into a woman’s wedding band and I think the notion of a wedding ring set really adds a look of continuity and beauty to a woman’s wedding ring ensemble. Then I was introduced to a man’s diamond wedding band.

Diamonds Are Forever

To me a diamond has always been a thing for ladies. The only time you ever saw a guy wearing any diamonds on his jewelry was when you got the chance to see a professional sports championship ring up close. Since that kind of a thing did not happen very often you could rest assured that your chances of seeing a guy wearing diamonds were pretty slim. Recently there has been an influx of guys wearing diamond wedding bands and I am just not sure how I feel about it. I would hate to think that wearing a stone on your finger calls your manhood into question but the notion of guys wearing diamonds is a foreign subject to me.

My attitude started to adjust recently when I saw several guys wearing diamond wedding bands. Upon further review I have to say that a man’s diamond wedding band actually looks very sharp and is something that I may not mind investing in some day. Some guys go to an extreme and get several different kinds of stones put in their wedding bands and I think sometimes that it reaches the point of being way too over the top. But a change in attitude may soon see a diamond wedding band replacing my plain old, and boring, gold wedding band.
